Airhead BMWs by Lord Drake
We’ve featured a bunch Lord Drake Kustoms Sportsters recently, but here’s a couple of neat airhead BMW’s created in their Malaga HQ.
BMW R90 Bobber Scrambler
This R90 arrived in the hands of Lord Drake Kustoms owner Francisco Alí Manen in a condition that surprised him, since it was quite acceptable, at least aesthetically speaking. “It is normal that these BMW models arrive at the workshops in a quite deplorable conditions,” he said.

“We began by disassembling everything to allow us to paint the engine that was previously grey, and so that we could to handcraft the entire rear part of this customized motorcycle from the fender to the single-seat bobber seat support, passing through the arm and license plate support.”
The bike received new piggy-back shocks and, as is usual in this scrambler style, Continental TKC tyres were installed, as well as a Biltwell seat. A Tracker handlebar and grips from Biltwell was fitted with bar-end LED turn signals from Motogadget brand. There’s also a mini digital odometer from Motogadget.
The suspension has been modified and adjusted, rubber gaiters have been added and braking has also been improved since a second disc and brake caliper have been added to this model that arrived with a single disc.
Engine guards with an auxiliary light, mirrors, LED lighting at the rear, modified exhausts with anti-heat tape and custom tailpipes are other of the many details to highlight in this transformed R90.

Finally, in terms of finishing, the seat has been upholstered and the entire motorcycle has been painted black, using gloss black for the bodywork, in the case of the two fenders, and black and pearly copper orange, in the case of the fuel tank.
BMW R100 Gray Brown
Lord Drake dubbed this build ‘Gray Brown’ but could easily have called it something like ‘Brutal Simplicity’. The R100 has been cut right back to bare essentials and the matte black motor, elegant graphite gray in gloss and matte mated with the natural leather dye of spectacular sprung saddle emphasise the cutting edge of this bobber.

As on the R90 bobber, the Motogadget odometer along with the LED indicators of the same brand located at the ends of the Biltwell grips, give it a modern touch while the Continental TKC 80 tires give it that butch scrambler motorcycle look. Plus, the shorter than usual exhaust pipes along with conical air filters not only improve the performance of the boxer engine they add to the sparse, but aggressive look of this bike.
