Alcoba And Aegerter Ready To Race Again
The Kawasaki WorldSSP Team will get back into race action this coming weekend. Jeremy Alcoba and Dominique Aegerter will take part in the second round of the FIM Supersport World Championship. This will take place at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, between 27-29 March.
The official two-rider squad will once more campaign their WorldSSP spec Ninja ZX-6R 636 machines. This return comes more than a month after the opening round in Australia.
Since the return to Europe, the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team has tested at their local Italian circuit of Cremona. This circuit will eventually be the host venue for the tenth round of the championship, in late September.
The aim of the Cremona test was to make sure that the riders and their machines are operating at their optimal level of performance. This will be important when the championship gets going again in Portugal just a few days from now.
In the first two races of 2026, Alcoba left with two top ten finishes. In contrast, Aegerter encountered technical misfortune in each race. After the recent Italian tests, each rider is in a confident mood approaching a Portuguese circuit more popularly known as Portimao.
After Free Practice and then Superpole Qualifying on Friday 27 March, Race One takes place on Saturday. Moreover, Race Two takes place on Sunday. Each race will be held over 17 laps of the 4.592km long circuit.
Jeremy Alcoba, stated:
“Portimao is one of my favourite tracks, where I’ve always done well. We’re coming off a very important test at Cremona, which only boosted our confidence as to our chances. The Phillip Island results have left me and the team very keen to demonstrate our true potential, and we want to do it this weekend in Portugal.”
Dominique Aegerter, stated:
“After the bad luck of the first two races, we’re heading to the Portimao rollercoaster very hungry for a ‘do-over.’ The team has worked hard to solve the problems that emerged in Australia and also arranged the Cremona test, where we saw that the issues were resolved and where I was able to improve my feeling with the bike. The Portuguese track is very challenging and technical, but I like it and can’t wait to work with my team to find a good setup and the feeling I need to do well in the races on Saturday and Sunday.”
