Breakthrough Weekend for McAMS Racing and Danny Kent at Brands Hatch
Round 5 of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship marked a breakthrough performance for McAMS Racing. Danny Kent delivered two podium finishes on Sunday, including a season-best result of second place.
Following a challenging start to their 2025 campaign, the McAMS-backed squad arrived at Brands Hatch with high expectations. This iconic Kent circuit was the scene of the team’s maiden Bennetts BSB victory at the close of the 2024 season.
The weekend got off to a strong start.
The team quickly found a solid setup and rhythm around the 2.4-mile GP layout. Kent secured a spot in Q2 and went on to claim fifth on the grid for Saturday’s opening race.
Race 1 saw Kent battling confidently near the front. He ultimately finished fifth, showing strong pace and confidence aboard the R1.
With a first podium of the year firmly in sight heading into Sunday’s double-header, the team focused on the 12-lap Sprint Race. Kent made a lightning start. He slotted straight into podium contention.
Then, a Lap 5 incident brought out the safety car, compressing the field.
Undeterred, Kent quickly regained his rhythm. Despite briefly slipping to fifth, he fought his way back through the pack. He finished third, securing McAMS Racing’s first podium of the 2025 season.
Confidence was high ahead of Race 3. With strong pace over longer distances, Kent once again launched well off the line. He moved into second in the early laps.
Another safety car period on Lap 6 brought the field back together. Nonetheless, Kent immediately resumed his charge, overtaking Brad Ray on Lap 7 to take the lead.
Kent held firm at the front until a move from Kyle Ryde pushed him back to second.
Determined to respond, the #52 rider clocked back-to-back fastest laps in pursuit of the lead. Despite his efforts, he crossed the line in second place. He secured his best result of the season so far.
McAMS Racing’s success at Brands Hatch sees the team climb two positions in the championship standings. They now sit fifth overall heading into Round 6 at Thruxton in two weeks’ time.
