CCM Motorcycles, founded in 1971 by Alan Clews, is one of the most iconic British names in motorcycles. They’ve been involved in probably way more than you realise within the motorcycle industry and we’re going to take a look at where they are today.

Eddie Kidd OBE – The historic 1975 moment to remember
If you were alive and kicking in the 70’s, you’ll no doubt remember watching Eddie Kidd OBE’s iconic jump across 13 London double decker buses. Well, not many people realise he was in fact onboard a customised CCM MX500!
CCM were commissioned to build a custom version of the MX500 bike. It was fitted with extra-long travel suspension and featured a Quaife 4-speed gearbox conversion. With several additional adaptations later, such as extra foot pegs and extended rear brakes. This particular bike was completed by the 10th of August 1975, ready for the world record attempt the following month. Eddie was awarded the world record for jumping over 13 double decker London buses!
The bike that started it all – the Clews Stroka in 1971!
The first run of bikes to the CCM brand were the Clews Strokas. Priced at a sum of £595 in the year of 1971! The bikes amplified so much demand that Alan was able to bite the bullet and build bikes full-time.
The Clews Stroka featured a distinctive polished metal tank, nickel-plated frame and a modified BSA motor. With bore and stroke increased, the Clews Stroka was the most powerful B50 in the field at the time. Without this start, they may not of been where they are today. Their roots are deeply cemented into the off-road and flat-track sector – a nod to where it all started for them.
A tribute to their home country – The CCM RAF100
Created as a celebration of Britain and its triumphs, this stunning machine honoured one of the nation’s most respected institutions. These were limited to just 100 individually numbered models. The CCM RAF100 was carefully handcrafted to commemorate the RAF’s centenary in 2018.
A true collectors gem if you want to own a piece of history. A 600cc engine and packed with incredible features. Including a bespoke tan leather seat with a matching rear decorative pad and twin bespoke hard leather luggage boxes. The RAF100 is a fan favourite from the era in which motorcycles were a necessity for our country.
