DIOGO MOREIRA SECURES THIRD MOTO2 VICTORY OF THE SEASON POWERED BY TRIUMPH
Diogo Moreira secured a third Moto2™ World Championship victory today. He took the Pertamina Indonesian Grand Prix win from pole position in front of a record-breaking crowd. The Italtrans rider crossed the line ahead of title-rival Manuel Gonzalez. Meanwhile, Izan Guevara secured a first Triumph-powered podium of the year in third.
From a lap record pole position, Moreira made a strong getaway.
Although he had to settle for second on the run into turn one as Guevara burst into the lead. Keeping his cool, he was quick to respond. He passed the BLU CRU Pramac rider into turn seven. Dani Holgado shortly followed, moving into second.
With the top six locked in battle, drama struck both Aspar riders. David Alonso highsided at Turn 16. Holgado then slid out of the race from second a lap later. This left Moreira comfortably at the head of the field.
A fierce battle ignited behind the Brazilian.
Gonzalez desperately hunted for a way through. He eventually passed Guevara on lap seven to take second. With a clear track ahead, the 23-year-old pushed on, dropping the gap to his rival to under a second. However, Moreira cleverly responded. He stretched the lead back out to 1.3 seconds before the Intact rider settled for second.
Moreira crossed the line 4.678 seconds clear of Gonzalez. He cut his series deficit to 29 points, while Guevara secured third place, marking his first podium finish of the 2025 season.
The biggest riser across the 22-lap race was Aron Canet. He gained ten places on the opening lap. The Spaniard continued to rise through the pack, working his way into the top six before crossing the line in fourth. This marked a superb 17 positions gained in a tricky Indonesian Race.
The Moto2 Championship will enjoy a short break. It will return at the picturesque Phillip Island Circuit for Round 19 on October 17-19 for more Triumph-powered action.
