Home hero Marini and Mir continue onward in Misano

The never-ending pursuit of speed and improvement takes the Honda HRC Castrol team to Rimini for the next round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. Momentum continues to build behind Honda HRC riders Marini and Mir…

Since returning from the summer break, the Honda RC213V has authored an impressive trajectory of improvements.

Both Luca Marini and Joan Mir have been able to consistently battle closer and closer to the front. On the edge of the Adriatic Sea, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is one of the jewels in the MotoGP crown. It produces exciting racing and treats fans to an unforgettable experience year after year.

Arriving in his strongest form as a Honda HRC rider to date, Luca Marini is aiming to make another step-in front of his home fans. He hopes to do this at one of his favourite tracks. The constant drive of progress has seen Marini enter Q2 directly from Friday in back-to-back races. He has featured as a protagonist of the battle for the top five in both races. In 2024 Marini achieved his best result of the year in Misano with 12th place. This result, just a year later, would leave him and the team wanting more.

It again demonstrates the progress made with the Honda RC213V.

Joan Mir has reinforced these global Honda gains with a strong comeback from 20th to 12th last time out in Barcelona. Like his Honda HRC Castrol teammate, taking advantage of a position in Q2 will be key. It will unlock Mir’s potential on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Misano has always been associated with success for the #36. The pieces continue to build towards that being the case once again. There will be plenty more of the Honda HRC Castrol team to see on TV this weekend…

The event will be followed by a one-day test, the final in season test of the 2025 World Championship season.

Luca Marini

“Racing in Misano is always a really special feeling and arriving there in good form makes it even better. Not just because it’s my home race, but I also like the circuit itself a lot and have been strong in the past there, so our objective is to continue like we have the past few weekends. We learned a lot in the race in Barcelona, and I am hoping to apply it this weekend to stay with those and the front and give the team and the home fans something to celebrate.”

Joan Mir

“It is a straight charge until the end of the season now, really busy for us and an important time for the future. Our situation is the same as previous weekends: we clearly have potential that is growing, and we need to make sure to put everything together early in the weekend to capture the top ten on the grid. Misano should help us, it’s a track I like riding a lot and we had our best result there last year. Since then, we have improved the bike a lot, so it will be a good opportunity to again map our progress.”
