Iker Lecuona Undergoes Successful Surgery in Valencia
Honda HRC rider Iker Lecuona has undergone successful surgery on his left distal forearm. It was fractured (ulna and radius) in a blameless multi-rider crash during the first WorldSBK race at the Balaton Park Circuit. Lecuona’s determination throughout has been commendable.
In challenging circumstances, Iker Lecuona handled the situation with resilience.
The incident forced him to withdraw from the remainder of the Hungarian WorldSBK round. Moreover, he withdrew from the upcoming Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race (scheduled for Sunday, 3 August). Teammate Xavi Vierge will step in, taking over where Lecuona left off.
The procedure, performed on Monday, 28 July by Dr. Eduardo Sánchez Alepuz at IMED Valencia Hospital, was completed successfully. It achieved the intended stabilisation for his injury.
Lecuona spent the night at the clinic and was discharged this morning. He looks forward to his recovery, eager to return to action.
His next medical check‑up is scheduled for Monday, 4 August.
