Jack Bell secures solid 4th place in RD2 of FIM Flat Track World Championship

Terenzano Speedway in Udine, Italy hosted round 2 of the Flat Track World championship. Meanwhile, Lincolnshire lad Jack Bell brought his A game on the Triumph TF450RC.

“Racing at Terenzano last year was challenging as I really did not enjoy the track, so I knew on race day we would have to work hard to get a good set up and feel comfortable with the Dick Shepherd Triumph TF450RC at this track.

 

The sandy surface always lacks grip and sucks the power out of the bike. Also, the long straights and really tight bends are hard to negotiate and require lots of braking and turning technique. 

The heat races went well. I took every point I could and learnt as much as I could to prepare for the Final. In addition, we worked hard all day with the suspension. Big thanks to Italian technician Alessandro of Zucco Suspensions for the help during the day. 

Hard work paid off and I managed to reach my target. I qualified for the front row in the final in P6.

In the Final after a difficult start I had some good battles. I made my way through from 6th to a very respectable 4th place. 

In the last few laps I was really pushing 3rd place but couldn’t quite make the pass work. I am truly proud of my 4th place, this matches my best result in World championship, achieved in Round 1. And all this at a track where I really underperformed in the past.

So 2 rounds in and 2x 4th place finishes, this puts me up joint 3rd in the World Championship standings. 

I’m really happy with the Dick Shepherd Triumph 450 and how we are all working. So close to my first World Championship podium too: this makes me more determined than ever!
