JOHNSTON JOINS SWAN RACING BY SENCAT FOR 2025 BRITISH SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP

Lee Johnston will be joining the Swan Racing by SENCAT team for the 2025 season of the British Supersport championship.

Alongside this, he has announced he has no plans to race any road events for 2025 including the infamous Isle of Man TT, NW200 and more.

Lee brings a wealth of experience to the table, running alongside his team mate Freddie Barnes onboard the Triumph 765 for the Quattro Group British Superport Championship in 2025.

“I’m really looking forward to the 2025 season and the excitement of joining a new team and all the change that comes with this. This season I also have the change of having a younger team mate in Freddie, which I haven’t had before! So I’m also looking forward to helping Freddie along in his career as best I can sharing my experiences in my time racing.”

Lee has a rich history with his previous team Ashcourt Racing, who announced their retirement from professional racing at the end of September 2024.

Ashcourt Racing established themselves as a formidable competitor in both the short circuit and road racing paddocks.

The team has celebrated numerous podium finishes and notable successes, including wins in British Supersport, the Isle of Man TT races, Scarborough, the NW200 and The Ulster Grand Prix.

“I’ve been in a good team for quite a few years, so to go into the road racing season taking a step back would be pointless, with me missing the roads for a few years the biggest thing I felt I needed was a genuine top team that knew how to do everything and there was no worry, no risk – well obviously there’s risk! But no extra risk added. So I felt it was better to not do the job if I couldn’t do it properly” Lee said in his recent YouTube announcement.

“So we will not be doing any road racing in 2025 but that does mean we can concentrate really hard at the British Supersport championship so I’m really excited about that with the new team.”

Lee will carry a lot of his much-loved paddock team, along with some personal sponsors and new challenges such as the use of Öhlins for the first time on new machinery in a few years.
