OMG Grilla ready for Thrusxton BSB

The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Team return to Bennetts British Superbike Championship action this weekend, as the series rolls into Thruxton, the fastest circuit on the 2024 BSB calendar.
Following a few weeks’ rest, the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Team are ready to power on with their championship assault this weekend, as the 2024 BSB series resumes at Thruxton with the 2024 R&G Race of the South.
Sitting fourth in the standings, Kyle Ryde is excited to step back on his R1 this weekend as he aims to continue the momentum gained with Sunday’s double podium finish at Brands Hatch last time out. Hoping to play into the Yamaha’s strengths at the 2.35-mile venue, the Nottinghamshire rider is chasing his first Thruxton podium in the top-flight class.

Kyle Ryde said: “I’m looking forward to getting back on my R1 at Thruxton this weekend. It’s a track that I’m still yet to get a BSB podium at, so that’s my first goal this weekend. We found a few really interesting findings at Brands Hatch on Sunday, so we have a few more weapons in our arsenal moving forward. Thruxton’s an interesting track because you have the first section with the chicane, then it’s really fast to the final chicane. We know the Yamaha is strong there, so hopefully we’ll use the strengths of the bike and myself to take home three strong results and reduce the gap to the front.”

Ryan Vickers arrives at Thruxton on the crest of a wave, after a dominant treble saw him bounce back to form at Brands Hatch. Having stood on the podium at Thruxton on the OMG Yamaha in 2023, the five-time 2024 victor is aiming for more of the same, continuing Yamaha’s form, with every race win from the last three seasons going to the R1 machine. The Thetford rider sits sixth in the standings and is on the hunt for more points this weekend to further reduce his 71-point deficit to the championship leader.

Vickers said: “Coming off the treble win at Brands Hatch the confidence is really high going into the Thruxton weekend. We managed to really develop the bike further at Brands and hopefully that will carry over into this weekend. I really like the circuit, it’s been one of my favourites since stepping on the Superbike. We didn’t quite get the most out of the bike last year, but I think we’ve got a much better package this year and can enjoy a really strong weekend.”With the fast nature of the Thruxton circuit, the Yamaha R1’s strengths are exploited at the unique British venue, having won nine races there on the bounce, with both riders aiming for more glory when action commences on Friday 9th August, ahead of three action-packed races across Saturday and Sunday.
