THE AUSTRALIAN GP IN NUMBERS

2,508,141 – Thanks to the weekend crowd of 90,685 for the Qatar Airways Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, MotoGP has now welcomed more than 2.5 million spectators through the gates so far in 2024.

346 – With 346 points scored so far this year, 2024 Moto3 World Champion David Alonso has set a new record for most points scored in a lightweight class season (since the current scoring system was introduced in 1993). The previous record of 341 points was set by Joan Mir in 2017 in an 18-race season – Alonso has broken it by Round 17 in 2024.

14 – This is Ducati’s 14th win in a row which is a new personal record for the Bologna factory. It’s their 16th win so far this season, only one less than the outright record in the class set by Ducati last year. Ducati is the first manufacturer with 14 MotoGP wins in a row since Honda’s run of 22 from Malaysia 1997 to Assen 1998.

11 – With 11 wins so far, David Alonso equals the record of 11 wins in a single lightweight class season set by Valentino Rossi in the 125cc class in 1997. Alonso is also the first rider to take four lightweight class wins in a row since Marc Marquez in 2010 (from Japan to Portugal). Marquez also won five in a row earlier that season.

3 – With another win, Marc Marquez equals his three victories taken in 2021, which was previously his best season in terms of wins since his arm injury sustained in 2020. In 2024, however, his third win is also his ninth GP podium. In 2021, his only further podium was his second place to Bagnaia in Aragon.

1 – With Marquez, Martin and Bagnaia on the podium and Fabio Di Giannantonio in fourth ahead of Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli, this is the first Ducati 1-2-3-4-5-6 and the first for a single manufacturer in the premier class since Honda in France in 1997.
