SENNA STUNS AT SILVERSTONE TO TAKE MAIDEN MOTO2 VICTORY

In an electrifying Moto2™ showdown at Silverstone, Australian Senna Agius claimed his first victory with a last-lap move in a dramatic five-rider scrap. Brazilian Diogo Moreira secured his first podium of the season. Meanwhile, Colombian rookie David Alonso celebrated a maiden Moto2 podium. All riders were powered by Triumph’s 765cc triple engines, which delivered relentless action and close racing.

Qualifying set the stage for a tight contest. Aron Canet grabbed his first pole of the season. He was joined on the front row by Manuel Gonzalez and Diogo Moreira. This promised an explosive race, and it didn’t disappoint.

Race day began wet, with strong winds.

However, drying conditions created the perfect recipe for a classic. Gonzalez’s wheelie off the line dropped him into the pack. Moreira launched well initially, only for Canet to hit back early and take control.

The early stages saw constant position changes. Triumph-powered bikes battled through Silverstone’s high-speed sections. Izan Guevara led a Moto2 race for the first time. Gonzalez, after a tough start, surged to seventh. However, he crashed out with Baltus in a dramatic racing incident.

As the laps ticked down, Canet, Moreira, Agius, Alonso, and Guevara emerged as the leading group. They delivered breathtaking moves and battles that showcased the strength and parity of the Triumph 765 Triple. Alonso hit the front on lap 10. He eyed a maiden podium, as Canet, Agius, and Moreira kept fighting at the front.

The final laps saw the top four riders trading places in a blur of speed and bravery. The Triumph engines were pushed to the limit in a final lap showdown that had fans on their feet. Alonso led into the final sector, but Agius launched a stunning double overtake. He snatched the win at the flag, ahead of Brazil’s Moreira and Colombia’s Alonso. Canet just missed out on the podium positions in fourth. Guevara rounded out the top five.

1. Senna Agius for his maiden Moto2 victory which he described as the best day of his life.
2. David Alondo for his fearless overtakes on the way to his career first Moto2 podium.
3. Diogo Moreira has been knocking on the door of the podium with two fourths and a fifth in the last three races. He truly deserved the podium prosecco in today’s thrilling race.
