Suzuki’s Suzuka special 8Hr mission 

Suzuki Motor Corporation will participate in the 45th Coca Cola Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Race 2024 to be held at the Suzuka Circuit from July 19-21 by using sustainable fuel and multiple sustainable items. The race is a round of the 2024 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC).

Launched by Suzuki Motor Corporation at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show on March 22, Team Suzuki CN Challenge with Yoshimura SERT project, according to the manufacturer, sets out two clear purposes: “To advance environmental technologies by accelerating the adaptation of carbon neutral items and the development of environmental technologies, and to obtain technical feedback for future products.”

Suzuki will use the 40% bio-sourced sustainable fuel, certified by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation). Since this is not the official fuel of the EWC, Suzuki will participate in the Experimental Class, a category established for experimental purposes. 

Besides the 40 per cent bio-sourced sustainable ELF Moto R40 FIM-spec fuel, development of new sustainable technologies will also take place including muffler, tyres, oil, fairings, and brakes which will be provided by Suzuki’s sponsor partners, who have agreed with the challenge, involved in the development and supported this project.

The team is mainly composed of Suzuki employees though Yoshimura Japan is working together in a collaborative partnership. Additionally, along with all its partners, Suzuki will strive to overcome issues to achieve the purpose of the participation, which is to accelerate development of environmental performance technologies through participating physically in the demanding conditions of the endurance racing. By verifying valuable information gathered through this participation, Suzuki will discover higher goals and promote feeding back of technologies to its future production models.

Suzuki says it intends to, “This challenge is not just for 2024. We think it is an ongoing endeavour that should continue beyond 2025 with the aim of achieving greater objectives. Let’s share the valuable data and great excitement that can only be gained from the challenging environment of the Suzuka Eight Hours.”
