

The ‘Martinator’ Jorge Martin is #1 for the 2025 season
Breaking 2025 news this morning following the Aprilia Racing team and their MotoGP livery reveal live from Milan this morning, 16h January. It’s been revealed that Jorge Martin WILL run the famous #1 plate in the 2025 season of MotoGP.

Martin clinched victory from opponent Pecco Bagnaia in a gritty until the end final race of the 2024 season. He became the 30th different premier class champion to win the MotoGP world championship. Jorge Martin also became the first independent team rider to win in the MotoGP era.
The Aprilia Racing 2024 line up consists not only of Jorge Martin but VR46 Academy rider Marco Bezzecchi. Known as Bez, he came 12th in the 2024 championship standings as part of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Race Team – behind his now team-mate.

Despite their satellite team success, Ducati signed 8x world champion Marc Marquez to the factory team, leaving no space for the newly crowned 2024 world champion.
Responding to Davide Tardozzi’s comment “Aprilia can buy the #1 plate if they want” regarding Jorge Martin moving to Aprilia Racing, CEO Massimo Rivola hit back at this saying “I think we spent less than them on the number!” at the end of last season.
Aprilia Racing also have long-standing Aprilia man Lorenzo Savadori again as their test rider for 2025. Savadori has been with Aprilia since 2015 and has just signed again until 2026. Alongside competing as a MotoGP wildcard, his career also spans across FIM World Superstock, the World Superbike Championship and more.
