Top six for Booth-Amos in Aragon World Supersport

Race one of the FIM Supersport World Championship in Aragon didn’t quite go to plan for PTR Triumph’s Tom Booth-Amos when he crashed out of the 15-lap race while battling to stay with the leading group.  He got a good launch from the fourth row of the grid and had moved up to ninth but unfortunately crashed out on lap six, luckily unhurt.  

 Teammate, Ondrej Vostatek, started race one in P22 and got a good start off the line but for the majority of the race he was being held up by slower riders that he was struggling to pass. The Czech rider battled through to finish 19th.

 British rider Booth-Amos lined up 11th on the grid for Sunday’s feature race and was soon making his way up through the field. He finished the race in a solid sixth place, just 4.07 seconds off the win. Vostatek battled through from P21 at one point to P17, just missing out on the points on the last laps.

Tom Booth-Amos said: “Unfortunately in race one, I just tucked the front trying to push a little bit over the top to stay with the leaders. Overall, I think with the pace we had, we probably would have finished fifth which would have been good but unfortunately I crashed. Overall, I’m really happy with the result today. It hasn’t really been our strongest circuit but we worked really hard. After I went down yesterday, I just thought, do my best today and see what I can do and I’m actually really happy to be only four seconds off the win. Credit to the boys, they have worked really hard to get me comfortable so thank you.”

Ondrej Vostatek said: “The start was ok in Saturday’s race but I was pushed wide by another rider and this cost me a couple of positions. In the end I was able to get in front of a group and I was able to make a gap and get closer to another group fighting for the points but in the end got 19th. Sunday’s start was much better than yesterday, I was much stronger everywhere, fighting with several riders but I got pushed wide and ended up 17th place.  I’m disappointed because I was close to the points today.”

World Supersport returns to Estoril for round 11, October 11-13.
