UK’s first Aprilia Racing Technology Centre launches

Aprilia has launched their first ever Aprilia Racing Technology Centre in the UK, based in Stowmarket, Suffolk.

Mototechniks, established for nearly 30 years in Suffolk, have been Aprilia dealers since 2012. Among their staff they have a largely race based background. In particular, Luke spent years of his life doing trackdays across the country. Meanwhile, Simon with his son Charlie is currently racing in the FIM R3 Blu Cru World Cup.

What is an Aprilia Racing Technology Centre?

It’s a premium line of technical accessories derived directly from Aprilia Racing Technology and developed by the racing department in Noale. It’s purely a race based service. So, the boys and girls at Mototechniks and other ART centres to come are able to get hold of exclusive Aprilia race parts. Furthermore, they’re able to carry out specialist track bike work. At the same time, your motorcycle stays in warranty.

ART accessories are designed exclusively for track use and are not street legal. The goal from Aprilia is to transform a rider’s track bike into a genuine race machine through the ‘plug-and-play’ parts designed from Aprilia. Once the components are installed, the machine is restricted to racing use only. The parts require no structural modifications to the bike. They are also fully compatible with the bike’s standard electronics and architecture. It’s also worth noting they ensure once removed, the bike will return to its immediate original road configuration. Aprilia have heavily stated that this way preserves the reliability. In addition, it preserves the functionality and most importantly street homologation. 

Only a select number of dealers within the UK have been selected, those that are recognised to be highly specialised within the brand. Luke from Mototechniks was flown over to Italy. There, he was trained by Aprilia Racing Technicians. As a result, the highest level of professional work can be carried out back in the UK.

Luke himself has a rich history with Aprilia and has owned various Aprilia track bikes over the years. So, he recognises the gap currently in the market for this specialist service. It’s a great opportunity for someone to dip their toe into the trackway/race world without having to buy an entirely separate motorcycle to do so. It’s already an expensive hobby to have. However, Aprilia have followed suit with what the motorcycle market are looking for. Yamaha have proven with their dedicated GYTR set up across the UK at specialised dealers it works really well. Additionally, Aprilia UK are hoping the uptake to this exciting venture is one that encourages other race present brands to do the same thing.
